From the Principal

Welcome to Term 2, 2012 at Waituna Creek School. Term 1 finished with an excellent book character day and a very productive working bee. The wood chips on our playground look fabulous. Thank you to the Lion Foundation for their donation.
We started this term with an ANZAC Day remembrance service where the children learnt of this significant event in our history. We made special mention of:
J. H. Hoare
K. W MciIwraith
E. J. Sole
J. R. Watts
These local Waituna men showed supreme sacrifice in WWI.
Term 2 is Cross-Country Term with dates set for School, Districts and South Canterbury Champs. The children have started training and we are impressed with their enthusiasm and ability to challenge themselves each day. Please ensure your child has appropriate footwear at school each day this term.
Another exciting event is the Kids for Kids concert being held at the Oamaru Opera House on the 6 June. Our students will be part of a choir backing Suzanne Prentice on the night. We have been busy learning are lyrics and hope parents will attend and enjoy the evening.

Hunter is using excellent descriptive language to paint a picture for his reader. Well done Hunter!
‘Crunch Wooo’. The autumn leaves crunch underneath my feet. In the autumn the animals store their food for winter. The leaves are rainbowy colours. The farmers are all harvesting their crops
Happiness by Robbie
Yellow is happiness
It is like flowers
It tastes like diet coke
It looks like lollies
It sounds like fizz
It feels like smoothness
Robbie has been learning how to use descriptive words to make the reader really understand his feelings. He is developing excellent strategies to stay focused and to attempt words he is unsure how to spell. His writing is becoming very neat. Well done Robbie – You are a writing superstar!
