The 2012 Waituna Creek School Charter has been accepted by the Ministry of Education. Thank you to the parents who attended our sharing evening. The charter will be added to the school website over the holidays along with our confirmed ERO report.

The Board would like to advise the parents of the school the close off date for letters to the chair asking for a by-election has now past and the 10% threshold asking for a by-election was not meet. The board will be selecting a parent representative at the next board meeting. We would like to remind parents that full parent representative elections will take place next year.

Emma greatly impressed us with the Charter. A lot of work has gone into it and we feel it encompasses the spirit of the school as well as the educational requirements.
A huge thank you to Emma and the board members for their time and effort put in to get this document out.

We have received Ged’s resignation letter and have set in motion the procedure to replace him.

Janelle Bilcliffe presented the extensive research she has done into transport options for Waituna Creek School. Due to Janelle’s research we have found that the purchase of our own bus is not currently viable. We are in discussions with the bus driver to best utilize the current service we have. We hope to have more information soon.

We are please to inform the community that Annalese Patterson will continue teaching in the junior room and Cat Cochrane will be teaching .6 (equivalent of 3 days per week) alongside Emma in the senior room until the end of the year.

Over the last month the Board have been in discussions with Gay Simpson in regards to her return to her position for term two. She has written to the board asking for her leave to be extended. We have granted this extension until the end of the year subject to her attending professional development days.

ERO has commented on the deterioration of the bark chips in our play areas. To address this we will be holding a working bee on the 31st March at 8am. Steve Muir will be donating his digger and time so we need plenty of people to attend and support. There will be a list of jobs sent out the week prior to the working bee – there is plenty to be done!
